• Pop!_Planet is still very much under development. Data for the wiki is being sourced from the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis, along with a bunch of completely unique content specific to Pop!_OS, and sourcing, converting and updating that content takes time; please be patient. If you can't find what you're looking for here, check the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis.
  • Welcome!

I'll get straight to the point.

When I started Pop!_Planet, I launched it because I saw a need for a centralized community for Pop!_OS. To be frank, I never expected the level of popularity it has achieved. Over the last year, we have gone from under 50 users, to almost 400 users. That's awesome! However... it also comes with a downside. We are rapidly running out of disk space on our server, and the bandwidth costs go up every month.

Pop!_Planet is not affiliated with System76 in any way, and is funded completely out of pocket. From day one, I said that I'd never use on-site ads (I hate them as much as you do), so the only monetization we get is through donations. Right now, the donations we receive don't even cover our overhead.

I know that most users will ignore this message, and that's ok. However, if even a few of our users are willing and able to donate a few dollars to help offset our expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.

Pop Classic

Pop Classic 18.10

pop-os-gnome.jpg

While we at Pop!_Planet love the new icon theme that premiered with Pop!_OS 19.04, we understand that many users have expressed a strong preference for the old pre-19.04 version of the Pop icon theme. As such, we have chosen to dump the old icon theme to a new theme, called Pop-Classic, and pass it on to our beloved users!

Installation

  • Download the "Pop-Classic.zip" file from this page.
  • Unzip to $HOME/.local/share/icons
  • To set the theme, run gsettings set or.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme Pop-Classic in Terminal, or select Pop-Classic from the icons dropdown in GNOME Tweaks.

Hi, I really prefer the 18.04 (also 18.10?) theme + icons: got unhappy after upgrading to 19.10.
I was capable of installing classic themes and icons via https://github.com/pop-os/icon-theme

BUT, @evertiro , I couldn't find .desktop file to change Terminal's icon. How can I do it? Can you explain it more 101-ish? Thanks!
I think this is just a Papirus icon theme. BTW I use Papirus for long time, I just can't switch to anything else. It's the best icon set ever, period :)
A much better icon set
Thank you! Very happy to see the old icon set as an option
instructions have a typo and should read
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme Pop-Classic
Are there some icons missing?
The terminal icon did not change to the old one

The terminal icon is being explicitly set through the .desktop file now. You have to edit or remove the icon reference to allow it to revert to the old icon
The classic icons are much better
