• Pop!_Planet is still very much under development. Data for the wiki is being sourced from the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis, along with a bunch of completely unique content specific to Pop!_OS, and sourcing, converting and updating that content takes time; please be patient. If you can't find what you're looking for here, check the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis.
  • Welcome!

I'll get straight to the point.

When I started Pop!_Planet, I launched it because I saw a need for a centralized community for Pop!_OS. To be frank, I never expected the level of popularity it has achieved. Over the last year, we have gone from under 50 users, to almost 400 users. That's awesome! However... it also comes with a downside. We are rapidly running out of disk space on our server, and the bandwidth costs go up every month.

Pop!_Planet is not affiliated with System76 in any way, and is funded completely out of pocket. From day one, I said that I'd never use on-site ads (I hate them as much as you do), so the only monetization we get is through donations. Right now, the donations we receive don't even cover our overhead.

I know that most users will ignore this message, and that's ok. However, if even a few of our users are willing and able to donate a few dollars to help offset our expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Support Pop!_Planet

    Thank you for your time,

It’s no secret that my background includes time spent as a developer for Arch Linux, and one thing that I’ve always missed with any other distro is an equivalent to the AUR (Arch User Repository). There will always be packages that are popular but, for one reason or another, don’t make it into the official repository. The AUR was a great way to expand the distro software selection in a semi-official way with minimal hassle for the end-users, and I’ve always wanted to see an equivalent for Pop. With that in mind, I’ve been experimenting with setting up a community-driven repository for Pop, and today I’m proud to announce the official launch of the Pop!_Planet Community Repository!
Right now, the repository is very bare-bones. It currently only hosts the packages released under the Pop!_Planet brand and supporting libraries. Additionally, the web interface is far from finished. Today it does little more than provide a brief overview of...

I didn't actually know you were an Arch developer. I used Arch for years before jumping to Pop, and one of the things I do miss is the AUR. This is a great start on what will hopefully grow to be as useful to the Pop community as the AUR is to the Arch community.

I presume you'll be putting together some contribution guidelines.

Your efforts for the Pop community are appreciated!

That's an incredible news! I'm coming from Arch/Manjaro and the absence of AUR was one, if not the prominent, thing that old me back for sometimes to switch to Pop. Hearing that something similar is present, even if in early stage, is really incredible! Thanks a lot for your effort!
