• Pop!_Planet is still very much under development. Data for the wiki is being sourced from the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis, along with a bunch of completely unique content specific to Pop!_OS, and sourcing, converting and updating that content takes time; please be patient. If you can't find what you're looking for here, check the Arch Linux and Ubuntu wikis.
  • Welcome!

I'll get straight to the point.

When I started Pop!_Planet, I launched it because I saw a need for a centralized community for Pop!_OS. To be frank, I never expected the level of popularity it has achieved. Over the last year, we have gone from under 50 users, to almost 400 users. That's awesome! However... it also comes with a downside. We are rapidly running out of disk space on our server, and the bandwidth costs go up every month.

Pop!_Planet is not affiliated with System76 in any way, and is funded completely out of pocket. From day one, I said that I'd never use on-site ads (I hate them as much as you do), so the only monetization we get is through donations. Right now, the donations we receive don't even cover our overhead.

I know that most users will ignore this message, and that's ok. However, if even a few of our users are willing and able to donate a few dollars to help offset our expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Support Pop!_Planet

    Thank you for your time,

    Dan Griffiths
    Pop!_Planet Founder

hello im new here so basically i flashed the nvidia iso (from the official site) in my usb using rufus . every time it gets done with extracting it fails to install so i flashed it using etcher , i was so hopeful because i already had 7 attempts of installing , it took a while to extract now it failed too , this time with the error code exit code 2 , so i deleted the partition table that my heart drive had and then made a new one and installed again . its currently extracting but ill update ( im also installing the 20.10 version)

Don't bother using Rufus. Just stick to Etcher. Have you tried using a different thumbdrive? maybe the one you are using is broken. Make sure your usb has at least 6GB of capacity.

Sadly i tried using one of my newest pen drive , they are all usb 3.0 and my pc doesnt recognize them at all in the boot menu, had to look for this old one , and yes my first attempt was flashing with rufus and it didnt work so i flashed it with etcher which i thought would work but also isnt working ,its currently on 69% of extracting files but i dont know if it will work , this is my 11th time trying to install it , the one im using also has 16gb of storage

But why would that happen? I flashed and old usb with Ubuntu, then POP and that didnt make it non-usable or anything. Its working just fine. I really dont know why your boot menu doesn't recognize the 3.0 usb since I can see my external SSD on the menu (which is 3.0). I would say try to flash one of your new usb using Etcher. That shouldn't mess with your device, just make sure you dont have anything of value in it since it will be deleted when flashing.

Ill try ,i think because this current usb is unable to get formatted back to a non-bootable usb using rufus , it worked the first two times , i completely removed pop os in it and flashed a new iso but this time it wont delete , just got stuck in deleting partition for like 20-30 minutes but when the first time i did it , it was like a minute or so , i made a mistake , i also flashed pop os in this using etcher with the pop os i flashed using rufus still in it WITHOUT making it non-bootable and it gave my other laptop 2 Bsod and i wouldnt wanna risk that again ,thats why im trying to make it non-bootable again to re-flash , ill update when my new usb 3.0 works , thanks

Hmm is it because my pc's motherboard is CMOS instead of BIOS? Does that make sense? My pc is kinda old i think thats why it isnt accepting usb 3.0

my motherboard is G41t-m6 and i have a GTX 650 nvidia graphics card

If you're using Rufus, it must be in dd mode for Pop.
Always verify your ISO download.

Is your machine legacy only, or capable of using UEFI?

I used etcher for the pop os that is currently on my usb stick ,and i have no idea how to identify if my machine is capable of using UEFI i dont find an option about it in the CMOS setup utility :( but there is an option called "legacy usb support" that is enabled ,but when i disabled it my usb dissapears from the boot menu
